24 Weeks

Pregnancy Survey- 24 Weeks

How Far Along: 24 Weeks! Well, 24 and a half because I'm lazy :)

Size of baby: Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn),s he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Total Weight Gain: 13 pounds according to the doctor's scale.

What I miss: Not much, really.

Sleep: I have started putting a pillow between my legs and it rests a little under my tummy. I actually slept all the way through the night last night, but my body is clearly on a schedule, because it is rare that I don't wake up at 6:30. During the week I stretch out and turn the TV on low and sometimes fall back asleep, but on the weekends for some reason I can't do it!

Symptoms: Feeling completely normal minus the growing belly that some days seems like its growing a lot and some days I feel like I am not getting big at all.

Cravings: I was thinking about this earlier...I really haven't had any major crazy cravings at all. I love anything Mexican - mostly the combo of black beans and corn, and the other day I was thinking about a big ole hunk of good bread from this place near my grandparents, Mazzaro's, but it wasn't so bad that I just had to go get some bread or anything.

Aversions: I've said nothing all this time, but peanut butter has been the last thing I want! I've never been a huge PB eater, I mean, on a PBJ sure, or smushed between some Nilla Wafers, or on celery, but I'm not one of those people who has ever eaten it by the spoonful (coughJAREDcough). But every time I think of peanut butter, I just turn up my nose. People keep posting pictures of the PB oreos...GAG. No, thank you.

GenderGIRL!!

Movement: She is a MOVER! I am able to see her move through my clothes sometimes, and almost any time of the day all I have to do is poke my belly and she will move around some. My parents both got to feel her move last weekend, so that was cool.

Maternity Clothes: Same as last week...still wear some tops that aren't maternity, mostly tan tops, but other than work out shorts, my pants are all maternity.

Best Moments this week: I guess the appointment. 24 weeks is pretty boring, though. Doctor said my belly measured perfectly and my weight gain was on track. That was about it. Oh, I also took the GRE because I'm a crazy woman. I hardly studied, but I still made slightly above what the "average" score is, so I'm pleased with that.

What I'm looking forward to: We are going to Alabama in a few weeks to see Marcus' family and will have both the boys! Riley has not ever been and we haven't been since Christmas 2011. I can't believe its been that long!! We wont get to go for very long, just about 4 days but we will hopefully get to see everyone. Hopefully we will plan a trip after our sweet girl is born :)

Milestones: Everything but the dresser has been picked out for the nursery. That room is still the guest room, and there is a TON to be done in there, but I feel better knowing that the only thing we have to do is find a dresser. We are all registered, too!

I've been working to de-clutter our house this summer. We have been in this house a year, and its amazing how much STUFF we can accumulate. When we moved in here, we took bags and bags of stuff to good will and to the trash, and I have gone through things on what I thought was a pretty regular basis but still, the house just felt/feels so disorganized. So, I made the goal to de-clutter and organize the house this summer. Our house seemed to get messy so quick, and it felt like there was NO WHERE to put anything. So far, I've done our room, the office, the kitchen, and the hall closet. It already feels a lot better to have cleaned out a bunch of drawers and gotten rid of so much un-needed stuff. Our kitchen felt so full, but just by organizing it, we now have two cabinets empty! So now, we will have room for bottles ;)

This weekend I am going to clean out the pantry and then the boy's room. I try to go through their clothes on a regular basis because they grow so quick! So, hopefully the only room left after this weekend will be the future nursery. Marcus' mom is coming to stay with us for a week when we come back from Alabama, so I would like to have a lot cleared out of there before she comes, that way over the last two weeks of summer we can completely empty out the room and then start painting and preparing. Once we have the crib and are able to paint/set some stuff up, I will post some pictures of the fabric and color scheme.

In addition to all of this, I also have to plan for the next school year! I am moving to 8th grade, which I am excited about, but that means I also need to start planning. Hopefully Monday that will start.

23 Week Survey

23 Week Pregnancy Survey

How Far Along: 23 weeks

Size of baby: Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world.
Total Weight Gain: I'm going to go with 12 pounds...I'm not really sure.

What I miss: not much really

Sleep: a few trips to the bathroom, and I now sleep with a pillow between my legs. I'm getting more uncomfortable, and the most comfy way is on my back...which is not really "allowed"

Symptoms: my growing belly and acne has reappeared. It was really bad, and then a few weeks ago it got a lot better. This week it has returned. yuck.

Cravings: not much really, spicy stuff, corn and black beans...basically mexican food.

Aversions: Nothing.

GenderGIRL!

Movement: Depends on the day, but she moves a lot, especially in the afternoon!

Maternity Clothes: Loving the summer time because I have lots of time to wear workout clothes and be super comfortable.

Best Moments this week: registering for our girl!! We went to Babys R Us and registered. I will still have to change a few things on there, but it was really cool to go and pick everything out!

What I'm looking forward to: Going to my parents this weekend and seeing family, and then next week is the 24 week appointment! Not a whole lot will go on at that appointment, but at least I'll hear her heartbeat :)

Milestones: Nothing new right now. I am in the process of cleaning out our house as much as possible. I sold a few things at a yard sale last weekend,  but next week I will start the major overhaul of the entire house. I have already worked on me and Marcus' room, but literally every other room in the house will be done next week (my goal anyway). I'd like our girl's future room to be completely empty except the bed and dresser that are currently in there. Marcus' mom is coming to stay with us for a week in July, and after that we will clear the rest out and paint and hopefully begin setting up the nursery!!

21 Weeks

Pregnancy Survey- 21 Weeks!

How Far Along: 21 weeks

Size of baby: Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now
Total Weight Gain: 10-11lbs so far. I knew my doctor was going to freak last week...he didn't really freak out but he made a comment about how I had caught up on my lack of weight gain from the last visit. He said my overall gain was normal but not to gain that much every month. Of course, the doctors scale said about 3 pounds more than what mine at home did. Then, after this crazy weekend with Haley's wedding, my moms birthday and a braves game, I really did gain those three pounds. I am thankful that summer starts Saturday so that I can focus on eating healthy and getting exercise.

What I miss: Not feeling like a big ole cow. A lady this weekend said something about how I was big for only 20-21 weeks. Yeah, I really wanted to say "well I'm pregnant, whats your excuse?" In case youre wondering, no woman, pregnant or not, wants to hear that theyre bigger than they should be.

Sleep: I have actually slept better the past week of so.

Symptoms: Moody - if you couldn't tell from this post already. I'm a little fire cracker lately :)

Cravings: Nothing big

Aversions: Nothing

GenderGIRL

Movement: She is a moving little girl, expecially when I drink something cold. Sunday I didn't feel her much and started to freak out...Monday she was just a kicking away. I guess she was tired from Haley's wedding

Maternity Clothes: pants, always, most shirts. I need some comfy shorts for the summer to work out in.

Best Moments this week: Haley's wedding and seeing our girl! She is perfect and doing well. Measured in the 80th percentile, and if she stays on track, she will be about 8.5 pounds.

What I'm looking forward to: the chance to relax

20 Weeks

20 Week Pregnancy Survey

Wow. I can't believe we are half way there!

How Far Along: 20 weeks

Size of baby: Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
Total Weight Gain: 8 lbs so far.

What I miss: Nothing

Sleep: I pee a lot.

Symptoms: Just getting bigger....

Cravings: Spicy spicy spicy.

Aversions: Realized it today - peanut butter. Nothing with peanut butter sounds good.

Movement: We finally felt her for sure last week! It was so exciting...now I know for sure what is a movement and what is just gas (sorry, TMI). She's a busy little girl!

Maternity Clothes: I still wear some regular shirts and tank tops, but pants are all maternity.

Best Moments this week: Still to come - going to see our girl on the screen!

What I'm looking forward to: Seeing our girl and Haley's wedding weekend! We leave tonight for Atlanta for the wedding. Pictures to come, don't worry.

I will try to add some ultrasound pictures and maybe a belly picture later today! My sister yelled at me for the no 19 week update...whoopsie. you have no idea how busy life is for teachers in the last week of school! I am also moving classrooms and grade levels next year, so I have been going a mile a minute.  Next week is post planning and luckily I have had my kids move everything for me. Thank goodness. I will spend next week unpacking and starting the planning process. Then, a summer of relaxation...oh, and planning!

18 weeks

How Far Along: 18 weeks

Size of babyYour baby is as big as a bell pepper and weighs almost 7 ounces. (Length: 5 1/2 inches, head to bottom.) He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead.
Total Weight Gain: About 6 pounds. Not sure if that is good or bad at this point.

What I miss: Lately, the ability to drink what I want :)

Sleep: I am sleeping okay, lately I have been waking up around 4:30 and I'm not able to go back to sleep for at least an hour...which is close to when I have to wake up anyway.

Symptoms: Feeling a little moody.

Cravings: Mexican! and sweet food.

Aversions: Just random stuff, nothing in particular, depends on the day.

Movement: I really am not sure if I have felt her....sometimes I think yes, sometimes no.

Maternity Clothes: almost exculsively except for some shirts. I need to get some bigger work out shorts and sports bras. Not that I work out all the time or anything, anyway.

Best Moments this week: the frappe I had this morning and the sweet surprises from our admin for teacher appreciation week :)

What I'm looking forward to: Not feeling so moody :)

17 Weeks

17 Week Pregnancy Survey

How Far Along: 17 weeks

Size of babyYour baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 3-5 lbs so far. Spring break was apparently too good to me, according to my scale I've gained 2 pounds this week. Whoops. I just went grocery shopping and got a bunch of healthy food so I'll get back on the right track.

What I miss: not much

Sleep: I am sleeping pretty well still getting up for the potty 2 times per night.

Symptoms: my belly decided to grow last night, apparently. I've had some back pain this week, as well.

Cravings: Cold drinks!

Movement: I am reading that this is coming soon and I can't wait! They say it is little flutters and possibly could be feeling them already just may not be sure of what I am feeling.

Best Moments this week: Seeing my family in Atlanta! Also, Baby Powell already has two adorable outfits thanks to Stefanie and Tamara!

What I'm looking forward to: Feeling the baby and going yard sale shopping this weekend. Man, I feel so old.

It's a girl!!!

Look at that precious little thing!! Our baby girl :) We are super, super excited, of course. I think it finally hit me today that there is a human growing in there and we will have a baby in just a few months! I kind of knew that it would take me seeing the baby looking like a baby for it to hit me...we are just SO excited!

Yesterday was our 16 week appointment. We had to pay extra to find out the gender at this appointment, but we could not wait any longer! We went for our appointment at 11:15...waited to see the doc till around 12, and then when we got done the ultrasound lady had gone on her lunch...she didn't realize she had me on the schedule (we changed our appointment from 3 to 11 earlier and her schedule still had me at 3). Anyway, we went to get lunch, came back and then got to have our ultrasound! SO exciting. It was so cool.

So of course I am already scouring pinterest for baby room ideas. The following photos were copied straight from pinterest, and are some of my ideas...Marcus hasn't approved yet ;)

Love these colors! No bumpers of course... They aren't safe... but this is def gonna be in the top five choices of a girls room if I have a girl-- LIZ

I love this color combo ad that its not "baby" pink.

.

Look at those ruffles!!
Antique-inspired baby girl's nursery - #coraldresser #goldaccents #nurserydesign

Gah...so sweet.

That is for now. Just gonna go and freak out some more and research random baby stuff.

Have a great day :)
