Another day...

One of THOSE days.

Wednesday through Friday of this week I am at CDL training at the board office so I can learn how to drive a bus in case I need to while coaching.

Have you seen me drive my Focus?

But, I will do my best.

Georgia Southern, God love them, drives me insane. I applied for my Ed.S this summer, signed up for classes. They send me an e-mail Monday and tell me I have to have this one form in by the end of this week or they will drop my classes.

Um....k?

Get it in. Then I get a call TODAY (two weeks into classes, one day before financial aid disbursement) that I cannot be accepted because I did not take my GRE. Why does my checklist for application say everything is in? I took the MAT, which was fine for my masters, and several places on the application process say MAT/GRE score. Apparently that is not good enough. SO, I will be taking these lovely classes as a "limited, non-degree student" and hopefully will be taking the GRE soon, and will be officially accepted asap. Thank GOD the financial aid department is understanding of how crappy this situation is.

I have a strong love hate relationship with Georgia Southern.

It's currently leaning toward HATE.

BUT, our volleyball team won all three of their games today.

And I love my husband.

Ready for the weekend to see my family and celebrate my nephew's birthday.

the end.

The blog - a year later....

My birthday this year was very relaxed, as I have been pretty sick. Thankfully I am now feeling better, but I am sure there will be lots of celebrating next weekend.

Last year, I started this lovely little blog. I turned 25 on the 25th and was anticipating a life-changing year, and I was right. I had a large post about this at New Years, and a lot of those changes are clearly still in place with one major difference....

We got married.

Let me say that again...

WE GOT MARRIED!

Wahoo!

So, now that I'm 26, and old married lady, what is next?

Hopefully we will buy a house sometime in the next year. May start trying to add to the family in the next year. Marcus should be done with school by next December, and I will hopefully be done with my Ed.S at the same time, so that will be exciting. Some big things, for sure. And don't worry (as if any of you are worried), I will keep everyone updated on our everyday happenings!

My favorite new websites that make me wish I was rich

Number one:

http://cheerfullycharmed.com/

Seriously...so cute.

Number two:

http://www.sammydress.com/

Really cute clothes, really cheap.

This dress is $8. You are welcome.

Numba 3:

Not so cheap website:

Cute dress, right? I might be partial to this dress because I taught this pretty young lady when I was a student teacher. But really, I love it. Really want it for Liz's wedding.

Numba 4:

http://www.sidelinesweetie.com/

Similar to numba 3 website...but organized by acc and sec schools. I've never been a fan of wearing a dress on game day, but show me a website dedicated to dressing southern women according to their school affiliation, and I am a happy woman. Especially if you can make orange and blue look cute in a dress.

And maybe one day I'll do this.

That's all, folks.

One of those days...

Do you ever have those days? You know, where you wake up and you automatically know it's going to be rough?

Today was one of those days for me. Well, it started that way.

Let me rewind to yesterday. I coach (assistant) middle school girls volleyball. We had 2 games at a school about an hour away. On the way home we stopped to get dinner, and before you knew it, it was 10pm and we were pulling into the school. 10:35 rolls around and I am finally home. Poor little Buddy went to the doctor yesterday and had strep and now has to do a breathing treatment, as he might have asthma. Had time to read my sick boy a story, sit on the couch with Marcus for 10 minutes, and then fall into bed.

Buddy, getting his breathing treatment. :(

So this morning rolls around and I am EXHAUSTED. I slept as late as I could, got ready, and headed to work. I couldn't find anything to bring for breakfast, so I figured I'd get something at the vending machine. My ride to work I could just tell I was in a bad mood.

Get to work, 85 cents in my pocket and the muffins I want are 90 cents. Borrow 5 cents.

Muffins get stuck.

Seriously?

Ask male teacher to rock the vending machine.

those suckers did not want to come out.

Clearly God did not think that I needed chocolate chip muffins this morning (neither, by the way, did my too-tight pants).

Sigh.

Good news is, my day got better. I looked like a hot mess, but my students behaved and I did a pretty good job teaching today. I have wonderful administration who are so friendly and understanding. It's a wonderful thing. Then I coached volleyball practice for the first time ever by myself, and I think it went pretty well.

so anyway, for those of you having one of those days...chin up. A positive attitude helps. Oh, and coffee.

and Gardetto's that you randomly find in your bag.

for fat kids anyway.

PS: Pray for Marcus, as the little man starts school tomorrow. I don't mean Marcus Jr, as he is super excited and will be fine, I mean big Marcus, as he is super sad his little man is heading to school because he is going to miss him sooooooo much.

High Five for Friday!!

Photobucket

And what a Friday it is! Here we go...

1. Buddy got into pre-school! We still aren't sure how Marcus' class schedule will be, but I put Buddy on the list for the local baptist church's pre-school back in March, just in case. And by list, I mean waiting list. This church has a VERY good reputation around the community for their pre-school and pre-k, so their waiting list is literally months long. A friend of mine put her daughter on the list last March and didn't get a call until DECEMBER that there was an opening. So when I got a call on Thursday that there was an opening I was estatic. Seriously. SO...Buddy starts on August 20th. I took him to see it Thursday after work and he LOVED it and really really wants to go to school, like, now. Awesome. This little booga is going to be learning LOTS!

2. WE GOT OUR WEDDING PICTURES!!

I could post 1000. That'll be another post.

3. Graduation stuff for GSU is finally taken care of. THANK THE LORD. Gotta go up there to get my name changed in the system. I was able to sign up for two classes to work towards my Ed.S...so I will be in school again this fall. Yipee...

4. We got to meet Baby Jack! Buddy went to a home-sitter last year, named Micah. We LOVE her and she just had a baby, Jack, the week after the wedding. He is sooooo cute....and Marcus hogged him the whole time :) Buddy even held him, but he was really scared he was going to hurt him.

5. GOLD MEDAL FOR THE US WOMENS SOCCER OLYMPIC TEAM!!!

and I love Alex Morgan.

the end. Have a good weekend everyone!!

exhausted.

beyond belief. No lie. 7 full days of teaching under my belt for my fouth year and I am SO tired.

Clearly, I've got to get back into the swing of things. Last year I was SO busy. Like, finishing masters, coaching three sports, planning a wedding - busy.

This year I've got two sports and starting my Ed.S, but I'm not sure how long the second one will last. Currently wrestling with whether or not I want to start all of that right now, or if I want to go ahead and get it out of the way? Or do I want to get my Ed.D? Do I want to be Dr. Powell?

Well, the answer is yes, I do. One day. Just not sure if I'm ready for all that.

Anyways, Next week I will be back into the swing of things, I swear.

For now, I'm going to relax on the couch and try not to fall asleep before 8pm.

no promises.

I'll leave you with a wedding picture...

Wait, I forgot!! High Five with the other hand

Olympic Edition of High Five for Friday!
That's right, I'm high fiving with my other hand, too!

1. US Women's Soccer team. Can I get one of these jerseys? Love them! Keep it up, girls!!

2. Missy Franklin:
This chick is my new favorite person.
A high school junior who refuses sponsors so she can still swim for her high school. Awesome.

3. Gymnastics is always one of my favorites to watch. These girls are amazing!
I can't even do a cartwheel, true story.

4. This guy...

5. And who can leave out the Royals? Kate Middleton is my style icon, for real. She is always so classy, and I have had a large celebrity crush on Prince Harry for-eva.

that's all, folks.

High Five for Friday!

Linking up with Lauren from My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday!

1. My cute patootie, Simba. Marcus, Buddy and I were snuggled up on the bed watching the Olympics and Simba was on the ottoman we have at the end of the bed under the covers, watching too :)

2. Welcome back to school!! We have had many changes this year at my middle school, but the year has started off wonderfully. Minus, of course, first day of school traffic, and the fact that one of my 6th graders accidentally hit the fire alarm. In the middle of lunch. On the second day of school. Never a dull moment.

3. Loving this new change in my life. Reading the Bible. Check out She Reads the Truth for devotionals directed at women :)

4. My sweet Morgan started 2nd grade this week! I can remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. She has grown sooooo much and is so stinking smart, its unbelievable. Love her to death!

5. Homemade meals from my Marcus. Tonight's was steak, homemade scalloped potatoes and corn. YUMMY!!!
